PLIGHT OF THE SUN BEAR
The BSBCC is a joint project with the Sabah Wildlife Department (SWD), which is responsible for the bears, the Sabah Forestry Department (SFD), which is responsible for managing forest reserves, LEAP, and spearheaded by Malayan Sun Bear researcher and conservationist Wong Siew Te. An MOU has been signed and SWD and SFD have donated all of the land needed for the BSBCC. SWD has also donated buildings and veterinary expertise. In addition, the Sabah State Government supports this project and has agreed to match all funds raised for construction of the project dollar for dollar. This partnership with the state government is critical to ensure the long-term success of the project.
Rockin’ for the Environment presents an important opportunity to promote and increase awareness of the BORNEAN SUN BEAR CONSERVATION CENTRE – which will in turn help raise vital funds for the animals.

FACING THE CLIMATE
Facing the Climate Exhibition
From 13-17 October 2010 at Ikano Power Centre, in PJ Malaysia, the Sweden Embassy and Swedish Insititute in collaboration with part-time political cartoonist Magnus Bard as curator and Helena Lindholm, Riber Hansson, Karin Sunvisson and Love Antell have put together the project FACING THE CLIMATE to encourage discussion about the sustainable society issue and raise awareness of current environmental problems.
How it began? In conjunction with the Copenhagen climate conference in December 2009, a group of 25 Nordic cartoonists provided amusing and alarming reflections on climate change. The exhibition is a part of a concerted drive by the Swedish Institute to promote sustainable development, under the heading Facing the Future – Sustainability the Swedish Way.
As part of Go International Group’s ongoing support of environmental issues, Managing Director, Jasmine Low volunteered her services as Masters of Ceremonies of the official launching ceremony attended by Yang Berhormat Tan Sri Panglima Dato’ Sri Joseph Kurup – the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, His Excellency Per-Arne Hjelmsborn – Ambassador of Sweden to Malaysia, His Excellency Vincent Piket – Ambassador of EU to Malaysia. Earth Week 2010 by School Teachers
School teacher band challenge corporations to match their fundraising efforts!
Since Earth Week celebrations earlier this year in mid April, band Benchmarx has raised over RM25,000 from just one performance at Little Havana, a two-day community event co-organised with Go International Group at SohoKL and a weekend fete at International School of Kuala Lumpur. That amazing feat is the result of teamwork and collaboration with the various parties; non-governmental organisations, small businesses and a group of well-meaning expatriate school teachers.
This is a call-out to companies seeking to play their part for the environment. If you have a CSR budget, we ask for your support for the Orang Utan Appeal UK where all funds collected will be utilised for the management / operations of Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary in Sandakan Sabah, Northern Borneo.
Dare challenge the school teachers?
